MOVER AND SHAKER: Rebecca — model, performer and key Fetish Factory player (Photo: ErosArtist.com)

In Rebecca’s world, there’ll always be room for rubber!

Rebecca’s Rubber Room is the online showcase for one of America’s most genuinely sensual — and downright pervy — performers. From her Florida home, Rebecca tells Tony Mitchell about pro-domming, go-go dancing and the joys of exploring your sub side

There can’t be many fans of latex who haven’t heard of Rebecca. Her website Rebecca’s Rubber Room is the online showcase for one of America’s most glamorous, sensual and pervy performers and models.

Based in one of the USA’s most vibrant kink communities — in the Miami-Fort Lauderdale area of Florida — Rebecca has become familiar in person to the international fetish crowd both through her appearances at Kink In The Caribbean, and through some jaw-droppingly sexy stage shows at home and abroad with fellow Florida perv RubberDoll.

Observe her for a while, onstage or off, and you soon find yourself forming the opinion that there’s something pretty special about her. So, my curiosity suitably aroused, I decide to ask her for an interview, to which she readily agrees. I find myself speculating to begin with on the how, where and when of her arrival on the fetish scene. Something in her eyes and her general demeanour seems familiar and I take a wild guess that maybe she’s another one of those nice Catholic girls who was drawn to the dark side.

“Well, she grins, “I actually did go to Catholic school for a short period! But I don’t think I have ever been considered to be a ‘nice Catholic school girl’! I was intrigued by the goth and fetish scenes in my later teens, and when I was 18 I decided to really get more involved in the scene, and started a six-year career as a pro domme.

“During those years, I became more interested in exploring my own fetishes, as opposed to spending my days in a dungeon. Which is about the same time I met Glenn and Donna, who are now the owners of the Fetish Factory in Ft Lauderdale. They were in the process of opening the original location of the store and were just starting the Alter Ego Parties at that time.

“And Then… I Found Rubber! I've never been the same since!”

My first direct exposure to Rebecca’s talents as a performer occurred back in early 2006, when she made her European debut at Absolute Kink in Amsterdam as part of a blisteringly hot double act with fellow Florida kinkster RubberDoll. The next time I saw her was on her home turf at Fetish Factory’s 11th Anniversary celebrations, where she again performed both with RubberDoll and in solo spots. But there are a lot more strings to Rebecca’s bow than I realised, as I discover when I ask her to flesh out my rather sketchy knowledge of how she passes her time when she’s not perving it up at fetish parties.

“Aside from my fetish performances, for over a decade I’ve been a go-go dancer in Fort Lauderdale and Miami at some of the hottest dance clubs in the area,” she reveals. “I also do quite a bit of modelling now, as well as managing all the online sales for Fetish Factory.”

‘RubberDoll is a hardcore fetish model, and I am known for my erotic latex-clad stage performances, so when you put us together, things are bound to get a little dirty’

I’m about to make some comment about hidden depths when she tells me there’s more. “Up until recently, I was sewing full-time for a corset company called Marvelous Mayhem. They have relocated to Georgia now but I still do a lot of hand-beaded designs for their beautiful gothic line.” So let’s see, that’s fetish performances, go-go-dancing, online sales management and corset-making. Is there anything else we should know about? Turns out there is.

“I’m also the entertainment coordinator and dancer for Fetish Factory’s Alter Ego parties on the second Saturday of every month. I definitely keep myself busy.” She can say that again.

Because I first met Rebecca as half of a double-act with RubberDoll, I feel obliged to ask more about that partnership. After all, it earned them both praise and notoriety on account of being rather more, ahem, explicit than the average fetish stage show. It turns out that the first time the two performed together was, at Fetish Factory’s 10th Anniversary, less than a year before I first saw them together in Amsterdam.

“I had been doing performances solo since the beginning of the Alter Ego Parties, and knew of RubberDoll as a local fetish model,” Rebecca explains. “While I was putting the bookings together for that insane three-day event, her name came up and I thought I would ask her if she was interested in being a part of the event. From there we started to put our ideas together, and two years later I still enjoy what we bring out of each other on stage.

“RubberDoll has always been known as a hardcore fetish model, and I am known for my erotic latex-clad stage performances, so when you put us together, things are bound to get a little dirty. And I love it!”

The good news is that we Europeans will have a chance to see the pervy pair reprise their deviant double act at the end of this year, when they return to Amsterdam to perform at The Clinic Party hosted by Absolute Danny in December.

But, you’re probably wondering, is it all just for show? I’ve lost count of the times I run into so-called ‘serious’ players who dismiss erotic performances by the likes of Rebecca and RubberDoll as mere window-dressing and not a reliable indication of the performers’ real sexual inclinations. Well, the time I’ve spent in the company of both these women has left me with the impression that pervs don’t come much more genuine than this pair.

My initial assessment of Rebecca was that she was a sensualist and a pretty serious player, so I was keen to discover how that matches up with how she sees herself. “To be honest,” she begins, “I actually really get into my shows on stage. What you see in my performances is normally very real, and the fact that you are watching me makes me enjoy it even more… so… Thanks! As you have had the chance to see at some of the parties we have both attended, I am very much into the scene, and I’m a true rubberist.”

I remark that in the shows I’ve seen her do with RubberDoll, she seems happy taking the submissive role, for example being tied up in bandages, dental-gagged and trundled onto the stage in a wheelchair. And if I’ve got the impression that she’s been genuinely enjoying playing that role, then it seems my senses have not been entirely deceiving me.

“For over a year now,” she confesses, “I’ve been in a relationship that has made me discover a submissive side of myself — and I must say I'm enjoying every minute of it! My personal fetishes include bondage, sensory deprivation, latex, paddling, caning, electro and breath play among others.” Well at least that gives me a couple of ideas if she requires entertaining the next time we meet up.

‘For over a year now, I’ve been in a relationship that has made me discover a submissive side of myself — and I must say I'm enjoying every minute of it!’

I tell her that, as someone who’s been on the scene for a while, I imagine she’s probably formed some fairly solid opinions about other fetish performers, models, designers, photographers and the like that she admires. And funnily enough, the first name from her lips is a British performer who shared the bill with her and RubberDoll at that legendary 11th Fetish Factory celebration.

“I recently had the opportunity to work with Empress Stah and she was a real treat to watch. She is definitely an amazing performer. As for designers, some of my favourites are Polymorphe, Absolute Danny, Vex Clothing, Torture Garden and Libidex, and you can be sure there are quite a few more. For the most part I truly admire anyone in this industry that is making a living doing what they enjoy.”

That seems to apply to quite a few of the people I met when I was in Ft Lauderdale. Why, I wonder, given the Florida heat and humidity, is there such a vibrant fetish scene in the Miami/Ft Lauderdale area, where you would think the last thing people would want to wear is latex?

“Good question,” she responds. “Every time I’m walking around in latex on South Beach I ask myself the same thing! We praise the air conditioning here!”

And how important is Fetish Factory or any other individual organisation to the existence of the local scene? “It’s not just because the Fetish Factory is practically my second home,” she says, “but I honestly don’t think the scene would be what it is now if we didn't have both the Fetish Factory and the Alter Ego parties to instigate it.”

But what does she think of the fetish party scene in general, and in particular of the growth both in the US and Europe of big ‘fetish weekenders’? “I think the big weekend events are a blast! When it is just one night, I’m normally performing and miss most of the party. When I have an entire weekend, or even a whole week (like I do at Kink in the Caribbean!) I have more of a chance to play.

“One thing I have noticed at a lot of events I've been to is that a lot of the guests don't play. Why?! I'm not sure if it’s because I’ve been spoiled by all the action that goes on here in Florida at the Alter Ego parties, but when there is a room full of people dressed in some of the kinkiest fashions around, I'm definitely not going to just stand around and wait for the next show! It’s not a true play party for me unless I'm comin’ home with a mark to remember it by.”

And what about her personal fetish ambitions? Are there any photographers she would especially like to shoot with, or designers she would like to feature in her shows? Come to that, would she like to perform more outside the US?

“I have been performing solo shows for quite some time,” she reminds me, “and I do plan to continue it. But as I mentioned earlier, I love what happens on stage with RubberDoll as well. The more countries I’m invited to perform in, the more grateful I am to be there.”

When it comes to photographers, Michael Diamond of ErosArtist.com — the man who shot all the images for the gallery accompanying this feature — is not surprisingly high on her list of favourites. “Since the first shoot we did together, there has been amazing chemistry that I feel definitely shows in the photos,” she says. She also confesses that she’d love the opportunity to work with Christophe Mourthé.

As for designers: “I am always looking for new bizarre items to use in my shows, especially hoods, so if you ever see anything out of the norm, send me the link! I have been lucky to have had the support of Polymorphe for my new geisha show,” she adds. “Mario made an amazing stark white catsuit with matching hood for me [see our gallery images] as well as one of the most beautifully designed kimonos I've ever seen in latex.”

On the business front, Rebecca says she plans to have a members’ area within Rebecca’s Rubber Room set up soon. “However, I will be keeping a substantial amount of the site free,” she promises. “The site was originally designed as an online portfolio for my performances and I will keep it as just that. The members’ area will be available to those who would like to have a closer peek into my Rubber Room!

“I have also begun creating my own DVDs. The first volume is available on my site now, and the second is soon to come. As long as people want to watch them, I will keep making them!” Well she’d be daft not to, right?
