It’s been a while since hoods made the transition from the worlds of bondage and heavy rubber to the palette of the fetish fashion designer. What self-respecting latex label these days doesn’t have at least one hood in its range?
But whereas fetish fashion sees the hood chiefly as a modifier of external appearance, the use of specialist hoods to create internal transformational experiences also appears to be on the increase.
So it may be worth reminding ourselves that some of the very best bondage headgear was and still is made by the legendary British bondage specialist Fetters.
Fetters really excels at leather bondage hoods, which provide a completely different internal experience from those made in rubber. But the firm also offers the much admired Studio Gum moulded latex hoods from Vienna and various types of metal head encasement, as you can see from the examples in our mini-gallery on the right.
Today, hoods rank among the best-sellers in the vast range of clothing and apparatus offered by this company, which is often referred to as the Rolls-Royce of bondage firms. Designs range from entry-level basic styles right through to the most exotic deprivation styles capable of providing their wearers with out-of-body experiences, tagged “headtrips” by Fetters.
The firm tells us it has noticed a large increase in the popularity of these hoods, with many younger customers coming to the Fetters website or its Warwick, West Midlands showroom to buy them. A spokesman told us:
“We’re finding more and more that many of our younger customers have been introduced to wearing hoods via the fetish fashion/club scene. They come to us wanting to take the hood experience to a higher level.”
Recently the famous company has been rebranded with a slick new website, and we understand this is just the first of many changes now being implemented throughout the business to cater for the demands of today’s customers.
We’ll be returning to Fetters soon, for a more in-depth look at the firm that has been providing the world with top quality perving gear for 35 years.
